International Experience Canada (IEC) is a program created to give young adults the opportunity to work and travel abroad. The goal of these videos are to explain the two streams of the program: Inbound (foreigners coming into Canada) and Outbound (Canadians travelling to other countries).
Our team had redesigned the branding look and feel for the program. The goal was to create distinct but connected differences between the In and Outbound streams, to build something attractive to a new young target audience, and to build trust and interest using genuine content.
These are the guides we used when creating the storyboard and voice for the explainer videos.

After the script was passed to the video team to begin footage selection, we pinpointed which sections would require graphic intervention and entire animated sequences.
We completed the storyboard using samples of what the graphic sequences would look like, and used sketches to show which scenes would be filmed using a stop animation technique.

We had three main tasks to contribute.
The first was graphic intervention on top of or around the footage. This was relatively simple as it was primarily text on screen and a few coloured graphic elements to animate.
The second task was to animate entire portions of the explainer. These sections were to help convey key information about the program.
The final task was to create a live stop motion sequence. As an artistic element, this was to add to the exciting and intriguing feel of the video as opposed to strictly informational.

An example of collaboration and mixed media, this project succeeded at promoting the IEC program by working within the branding expectations. The videos have been shared on various social media platforms as well as on the IRCC page for IEC.
